The International Cooperation Network on AI (ICNAI) is a platform for cooperation on globally important topics in AI supported by Academia, Industry, Media, Civil Society, etc., including but not limited to: AI Capacity Building, AI for Sustainable Development; Cross Cultural Cooperation on AI, AI Risks, Safety, and Governance
ICNAI is devoted to contributing to global AI development and governance as one of the efforts that complement with existing mechanisms. ICNAI is aimed at supporting the core role of United Nations for global coordination on AI, and contribute to it.
For AI Capacity Building to promote Global Development and Governance of AI, we should: (1) Advance AI for Sustainable Development; (2) Develop International Cooperation for AI Capacity Building; (3) Promote AI Governance with Multilateralism; (4) Support International Institution for AI under the UN Framework. https://long-term-ai.center/research/f/ai-capacity-building-for-global-development-and-governance-of-ai
Achieving the global benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) will require international cooperation on many areas of governance and ethical standards, while allowing for diverse cultural perspectives and priorities. There are many barriers to achieving this at present, including mistrust between cultures, and more practical challenges of coordinating across different locations. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s13347-020-00402-x
Currently, there are no truly effective governance frameworks available for global coordination, which is very urgently needed to support good development and use of AI worldwide. The new and hopefully more effective global governance framework would have to incorporate existing fragmented governance efforts. The United Nations (UN) serves as the most appropriate intergovernmental organization that can bring together these various fragmented governance frameworks. https://ai-ethics-and-governance.institute/2023/07/26/weaving-a-global-network-of-ai-governance/
This approach represents the extension of a standards, licensing, and liability regime to the global level. We propose that states establish an International AI Organization (IAIO) to certify state jurisdictions (not firms or AI projects) for compliance with international oversight standards. https://arxiv.org/abs/2308.15514
We should push AI forward for international peace, and reduce, not enhance, security and safety risks. This is the briefing on the UN Security Council meeting on AI: Opportunities and Risks for International Peace and Security on July 18, 2023. https://ai-ethics-and-governance.institute/2023/07/19/ai-for-the-good-of-international-peace-and-security/
The commonalities of potential existential risks brought to humanity by pandemics, nuclear war, and AI are that they are hard to be accurately predicted, they have a wide range of impact, they are concerned with the interests of all humankind, and they even possess widespread lethality. https://ai-ethics-and-governance.institute/2023/06/05/avoiding-catastrophic-risks-for-healthy-development-of-ai/
Cultural Interactions Engine is aimed at providing linkages and interactions among various cultural heritages inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It shows how different cultural heritages from various geolocations and cultures are connected to and different from each other. By this effort, we see how we, human species as a whole, contribute to the human civilizations in complementary and interconnected way.
Symbiosis Panorama is aimed at weaving the web of human, animals, plants, and all living beings on their interconnectedness for a sustainable symbiotic society. Human, animals, plants, and all living beings are naturally and have already been closely related, while human does not fully aware of these interconnectedness, and protect the interconnections in a sustainable way. Enabled by AI to present and protect the natural interconnections among all living beings. http://symbiosis-panorama.ai-for-sdgs.academy/
AI for SDGs Observatory is aimed at synthesizing and linking highly selective Cases on AI for SDGs all over the World, for human and ecology good. Besides manual selections from the Web, most cases are selected by AI from scientific literature that are related to AI for SDGs. Currently it covers more than 16 thousand highly selective cases (both manually selected, and AI assisted) in all the 17 categories from UN SDGs. https://www.ai-for-sdgs.academy/observatory
